The Imperial Theatre is on the list to get its own Shubert sponsored makeover. Elliot Greene, COO, submitted an application to complete a substantial rehabilitation and restoration of the building. If approved, the project would include a restoration of the interior and major structural change, which would include an Annex, 29,673 square foot addition. The proposed annex would span five stories and two cellar levels, with the first through the third floors, roof and cellar operating as part of the theatre and the fourth and the fifth floors containing commercial space for events. The addition would “address the buildings many deficiencies,” "which include poor audience amenities, poor audience circulation, and a lack of accessibility for guests and performers with impaired mobility and physical disabilities”. Overall, the proposed upgrades aim to transform the Imperial Theatre into a more accessible, functional, and enjoyable space—supporting a better experience for everyone who walks through its doors. I'm sure we are all can't wait to see what the finished product will bring. Comments are closed.
