Theatre Operations and Human Resources held an interactive “Inside the Box Office” information event on Saturday, October 22 in the JJ Shubert Penthouse. It was a huge success with a diverse group of 19 individuals in attendance to learn about careers in Broadway box offices.
After some light refreshments, attendees learned about Shubert’s history and its DEI commitments and goals. The Guest Star was one of our Assistant Treasurers, Julie Lui of the Music Box Theatre. Julie gave a wonderful presentation on her career path and the day-to- day responsibilities of being a Ticket Seller. Participants also got a chance to meet face-to- face with Julie, staff from Theatre Ops and HR in a round of mini interviews! From this event, several attendees will be called for official interviews in consideration of becoming substitute or regular Ticket Sellers in the near future. Because of the tremendous interest in this Box Office event, there has been talk of doing one for folks interested in careers as Stagehands.
